Golf Mittens For Winter Play

2016/7/19 16:17:52

Any golfer worth his weight knows that winter is one of the best times to play golf. Novice golfers prefer the spring and summer months when the temperatures are high and the sunshine beats down on their shoulders. Some people do not even realize that many courses offer winter golfing. While most courses do not allow golfers outside when snow and ice is on the ground, they do stay open on the nicer days. Golf mittens keep the golfers hands warm even though the air temperature might be below freezing. With the right pair, the golfer can continue golfing almost year-round.

Some people might scoff at the idea of sports mittens because they point out that golf courses in warmer areas are already open year-round. Those people do not realize that even though the courses are open, the temperatures might still drop rapidly. Even Las Vegas, which has warm temperatures, can still get quite cold during the winter months. Those that golf during December or January know that the cold sometimes feels almost biting. A warm pair of mittens keeps the golfer's hands warm even though the temperature is low. The mittens are small enough to slip inside a golf bag for use when needed.

Golf mittens come in several designs, including heated mittens. The heated mittens have small heat packs that slip inside a pocket on the mittens. The golfer shakes the heat pack, which activates the chemicals inside. Within seconds, the packs start heating up. The golfer slips the heat packs inside the mittens and the heat radiates through the fabric, keeping his hands warm through a full round of 18 holes. Other mittens combine the mitten design with a glove design. The rounded part of the mitten rolls down to reveal fingered gloves. These mittens are best for those that want maximum freedom and movement of their hands.

The secret to using these mittens involves the right fit. If the mittens are too large, the golfer might not get a good grip on his club. If the mittens are too small, they impede his movement. Most manufacturers offer mittens in different sizes, including small, medium, large and extra-large. The right fit ensures that the mittens mold to the hands like a second skin. Female golfers can also find mittens designed for women. The smaller sizes fit the smaller hands of a woman better than the mittens designed for men. Anyone that wants to continue golfing in colder weather should invest in a pair of quality mittens.
