Golf: A Money Game

2016/7/19 16:19:27

If you weren't already aware, billiards actually evolved from outside sports like the golf we have today. So it should come as no surprise that there is a billiards spin on the classic shoot-for-the-hole game.

Yes, Billiards golf is also called golf. So when you are proposing to play a game with your friends, try to make it clear that you do not want to walk around on some over trimmed lawn, but would rather hang out in some skuzzy bar.

Obviously most of us would agree the later of the two is more appealing, unless you are an old man or named Tiger Woods. Even still, I bet Tiger takes his bar time.

However, this game isn't played on your traditional pool table, though they would work. According to the National Billiard Congress of America, golf is played on a snooker table (10 or 12 foot long).

This game is a unique billiards game because it can be played with more than two people. In fact you can have as many people play as you want without changing the rules at all.

The rules are simple enough to understand you just have to pocket your ball in all the holes. The trick is you have to do it in order.

So you give each pocket a number one through six. Once you have pocketed your ball in one then and only then can you start pocketing in the other holes.

If you pocket your ball in the incorrect hole that results in a foul. There are a number of other ways to get a foul too...we will get to them later.

The game is started by placing the object ball (the ball you are aiming to hit) on the foot spot, which is marked by a white dot usually. They then place the cue ball behind the D.

The first player has an advantage over the other players in this game, because with his first shot there would be no other balls blocking or obstructing the direction of his ball. Yes, it is possible to win before everyone else even gets a turn; however, it is very unlikely.

The way to make this game really worthwhile is to put money on it. Turning it into a sort of friendly tournament is a good way to make it a bit more exciting.

What my friends and I do is we put five dollars on each pockets. So if my friend wins by pocketing each hole in the correct order he collects the money.

So if I am two pockets behind I would give him ten dollars, if I was three pockets it would be fifteen etc. Although it should be noted my friends never beat me.
