Improve Your Golf Swing With An Empty Box

2016/7/19 16:23:31

All golfers want to improve their swing, and in order to do so, they use a number of training aids. For the most part, these aids are bought at golf shops and sport store, but what many people don't realize is that they already have something at home which they can use. That's right; the cardboard box your clubs originally came in an idea training aid.

Of course, before you go ahead and start swing at a driving range, always make sure you warm up first by hitting a few balls with a 5 or 7 iron.

After your warm up shots, go ahead and place the cardboard box lengthwise towards the target. The aim is for you to hit the ball without hitting the box. There should be about five or six inches between the box and the ball, but if you're not sure how to set up, just ask someone at the range for advice.

To begin with, take a few practice swings, allowing the club to brush softly against the ground without hitting the box. Once you're ready, put a ball in place and let rip. Every time you hit the ball, try to miss the box. If you do hit the box, simply reset the box in its original position and try again.

If you can hit a few balls in a row without striking the box, you can move the ball at least half an inch closer to the box. When you reach a point where there is only an inch or two of space between club and box, you can begin swing in your usual way.

For those who are able to do it, this means that your swing is within the zone. If not, this means that your swing is on the outside and this could have happened before or after impact. This can happen because you are not holding the club properly or your clubface is not aimed properly. Whichever the case, it is best to consult a professional who can analyze the situation and tell you the best course of action.

If you can manage to hit the ball repeatedly without hitting the box, you can remove it, but the minute your shots start heading south, replace the box and practice again.

There are other golf swings aids aside from the box to help you improve your golf swing and you will have to shell out more than $10 just to use it.

The great thing about an empty box is that it won't cost you anything because if it gets damaged, you can throw it away and find another box with similar dimensions so that you can continue perfecting your golf swings. For example, you could also use one of those soft, long and circular foam pool toys.

Speed and hand positioning are important to prevent your golf swing from going outside. Keep in mind that a biomechanically correct golf swing path is not inside out or the opposite. It is also not going down a straight path. It is a movement from inside to inside and once you get it, you will be able to have the correct technique to make this ball fly into the air and land near the hole.
