One Plane Golf Swing Versus A Two Plane Golf Swing?

2016/7/19 16:24:36

An important part to your golf game would no doubt be your golf swing, however sometimes you will hear people talking about a one swing golf plane versus a two swing golf plane, what are they talking about? Generally when they talk about a swing plane, it simply refers to the golf swing circular movement that you will be doing, which means the arc you are following when you perform a swing.

What exactly are the difference between a one plane and a two plane?

Simply put, you are either in on a one plane or the other; very rarely you'll find a crossover between the two, however you can find hundreds of variations of golf swing exhibiting traits from either one of them. Sounds confusing? It can be for most people, just remember this, if you use a swing varied from a one plane on a two plane shot, you'll most likely struggle with your swing.

So, how do you tell the two swings apart?

The major difference between a one plane and a two plane is how your arms and shoulders behave when you are doing your swing sequence. For a one plane, they should be well connected to your movement and you would not feel as disconnected as it is in a two plane swing. A two plane golf swing will also easily throw you off balance because of the disconnection and you will feel as if your arms and shoulder movement are not in line and consistent with your body movement.

The transition period of the two swings will also be different, on a one swing plane you will find that the shoulders of the golfers are connected and their clubs will be rarely raised above their head. This means that they do not have to forcefully bring the club back down on the down swing, which can cause them to lose their balance and alignment. In terms of the distance, people would feel that a two swing is more powerful because they would need to exert extra pressure on the down swing, however that is not true because a one plane swing is equally adapt at producing the power and distance if they can strike the ball with accuracy.
