Help To Improve Your Golf Game

2016/7/19 16:26:25

If you are a golfer you will be interested in finding new ways to improve your golf score, no matter how long you have been part of the sport. Although the best way to improve is through practice, there are some things you can do to give you an edge.

Getting the best out of your game starts before you even leave the house. Before you even reach the golf course, it is important to make sure that you have had something to eat. Your body and mind need to have enough fuel to keep you focused and your body working the way it should in order to get the most from your game.

Eating a balanced meal containing both carbohydrates and protein will give you the most long lasting energy. It is also important to make sure that you drink enough water both before and during your round.

Many golfers wish to increase their power when driving the ball. To do this you need to increase the amount of torque created by your body. The best way to achieve this is to turn your shoulders as close to 90 degrees as you can. Ideally you will have your back to the target when you are at the top of your swing. The power comes from your body uncoiling combined with the downward swing. You can also help by strengthening the muscles in your legs, abdominals and back.

Another problem area for many golfers is putting. This can be made even harder when the green is comprised of a hill. If you need to put uphill, then you need to remember that the ball is not going to travel as far and will stop more abruptly than normal. To combat this you need to hit the ball firmly and apply less break than usual.

Distance control is the biggest problem most golfers have when putting on a decline. Many golfers make the mistake of hitting the ball too gently, but in fact you still need to hit the ball firmly. In order to control the jump you usually get when putting, you can use the tip of the putter rather than hitting with the center.

All the best golfers have one thing in common. They practice as often as possible! I live in Florida, a mecca for golf enthusiasts, with my wife and two children. The sunshine state is one of the best places to practice golf all year round.
