How To Hit Longer Golf Shots Using Your Golf Irons

2016/7/19 16:26:30

For starters get loosened first by stretching out. Now take a full inhale and exhale and try to relax your body. Whenever a golf player is tense it is usually very hard to hit golf balls dependable. Give it a minute.

At this point before commencing any drills make sure you are concentrated. Get your head cleared. That is a crucial fundamental. Once your prepared, take some practice swings really loosely. Do not tighten up the wrists!

Also, how are you gripping? Don't strangle your golf club to death and simply swing till you really feel loose enough.

Set a golf ball in front of you and hit it like you typically do. How did it turn out? Well I don't know exactly what you did but you wouldn't be reading through this posting should you can hit a perfect shot all the time.

First of all exactly where did you location the golf ball? When hitting a longer golf iron place the ball closer towards the left heel or for lefties right heel. Also make certain that you are not too far or too near to the ball. I normally have got a small space between my hands and body.

I try not to swing with a descending hit with a long iron. The majority of of the time you will hit the ground first which will will cause a fat strike. I also try not to swing upwards like I would with a driver. If I do Ill hit it thin or blade it. So this is what I do. I put some fat on my left leg but not as much as I would having a short iron. I make certain I feel comfortable with my stance then I start my backswing. My arc with the backswing is wide to get much more power. Once I reach the highest point with my hands I unload towards the ball. The downswing is not steep, but my hands are still leading the club face. That means I keep lag throughout the downswing and right before effect the hands start to release. The release with the wrists is where I get all my energy. As the club impacts the ball, the club head is hovering above the ground and is still staying low following the effect. Maintaining the club head low following the strike makes me a lot much more consistent every time. Occasionally there will be a shallow divot but not all time.

Now you try. Take away the golf balls. Put some weight on the left leg and begin a slow backswing. Make it wide by keeping the hands as far away from the body. Try not to pass parallel at top with the swing with an iron. Begin the downswing and remember to do it slowly at very first. Watch the hands to see what they are doing before impact. Are they collapsing? Make sure that they are. Not only does it insure a solid hit but gives you much more power. Maintain that follow through as low you are able to towards the ground.

Don't hit a real golf ball until you get that new swing upgrade learned. Save it in your muscle memory without having to think about it. Once you're ready go for the real thing.
