Increasing Your Swing Power - Unleashing Your Potential

2016/7/19 16:26:50

Ever get the cringe when you approach a par 5 hole? You know you're not going to make the green in 4 because of the lack of distance from your golf swing power.

As difficult as it may sound, it could be easy when you know what you're doing, but bear in mind that no matter what you do, the key is not solely in your physical strength.

So if you're looking for swing distance and improvement to your current game I urge you to read on for some tips in this article!

Strength, as strange as it may sound, is not the deciding factor of whether your ball will land in the 150 yards zone or the 200 yards zone using the same clubs. How do we know? Think about those playing this game, virtually all walks of life from as young as a child to as old as a senior citizen playing golf as their hobby, and do you think that they necessarily have a weaker shot than you do?

The main contributing factor is actually what we call the whip effect, created only by your golf shaft. This is because your golf shaft is created to be flexible and when swing it will create enough energy and momentum to make up for the distance. So if you're looking to improve on your distance, you should instead learn how and what you can do to improve on creating this whip effect.

If you're looking to get more distance, you should definitely consider a club with more flex, so that more energies are transferred every time you swing the club. However, this should compliment your physical strength too in order to get the best effects.

Someone who has better physical abilities will choose to do with less flex to ensure that they stay in control of their swing. There are no strict guidelines as to whether you should have a firmer club or one with more flex, evaluate your strength and actually put the club to test; combining both will ensure you get the maximum capabilities from your swing.

One more thing to remember when trying to gain distance in your game is to never ever force it. When you do that, you risk losing your body balance in the process due to the extra strength and effort you put in while swinging.

A 300 yards shot can do you no good if you can not get the ball to where you want it exactly, thus controlling your accuracy is every bit as important as getting the ball as far as possible. Golf swing plane will usually get you far enough when you have the right clubs, just remember to cock your wrist slightly at the point of contact in order to transfer the energy over!

For those just picking up the game, you should pay attention to accuracy before power, getting your basic right will ensure that you start on the right foot.
