Tips To Bring That Handicap Down

2016/7/19 16:27:50

Golf is no longer just the gentleman's game, golf is enjoyed by men, women and children alike, an increasingly popular sport enjoyed by all ages.
Are you an existing Golf fanatic or you maybe you are new to the sport? Which ever category you fall into we have collated some tips that are guaranteed to improve your performance on any level.

Practice
Yes this one is standard but we need to state the obvious, practice is the key to perfection, and quality not quantity is the key! One hour a day four or five times a week will show dramatic improvements in your game. You will grow stronger and become more familiar with your abilities.

Attitude
Golf is described as the gentleman's game; players that keep their cool and don't get affected by frustration are successful! How ever disappointed or annoyed you are, remember to move on, what is done is done and if you don't move past your anger, it will cloud your judgement for each and every other shot you take! Maintain a positive head for the entire round of golf. Stay confident; believe in your abilities.

Getting a Grip
There are a handful of different grip positions used by golfers, you should try out a few to see which you feel most comfortable with and most importantly, which one provides the best results. Your grip is the foundation of your golf swing so getting this right is essential for improving your game. Popular choices include the Vardon Overlap Grip, Interlocking Grip and the Ten Finger Grip.

The Backswing It is essential that you start correctly or the whole swing will be negatively effected, remember if you are right handed to keep the left arm straight (vice versa if you are left handed) during the backswing, and really go back as far as you can with out bending your arm, this setting you up in good stead for a powerful down swing.

Downswing
It is important to not rush your down swing, as your shot will be sloppy and weak. It is proper practice to gradually increase the speed of your swing from start to the end of your follow through. Good posture and balance will add to the power of your shot, so remember to position your feet more than waist distance apart!
By taking these tips into consideration you will be tipped for success! Good Luck, enjoy your round!
