Some Exercise and Flexibility Tips for Golfers

2016/7/19 16:29:14

When you have led a generally inactive lifestyle and you decide to start playing golf, you may realize that it is not that easy to just begin playing'-holes. Still, if you have been playing for quite some time you are probably in much better physical shape, but your golf game will be greatly determined by your level of physical fitness. If you are in great shape physically, in terms of flexibility, strength and endurance, you will be able to play a much better game than someone who is in a worse physical shape.

Flexibility and Your Muscle Mass

At the same time that you work on your strength training you will have to work on your flexibility so that you will have the best overall physical condition feasible to play well. This means that you want to work to build lean muscle, rather than bulky muscle. The primary difference is the level of flexibility that the muscles can offer. Bulky muscles are apt to be stronger than lean muscles, but they aren't as flexible. This will greatly restrict your ability to turn properly while you are swinging the club.

Lean Muscles are More Suited to Golf

Many golfers who are working on building muscle strength tend to build a lot of muscle mass. This is usually because they are lifting weights that are too heavy. To build lean muscles you have to do more repetitions of lighter weights. This will improve your muscle strength, and at the same time, build the lean and slender muscles that are more useful for your overall golf game.

Warm-up Before and After Playing Golf

You need to improve your body's level of flexibility as much as possible. This involves performing; by stretching before each round you will be ready to swing your club on the first tee without the risk of a pulled muscle. If you find that you are sore after a game it was probably because you didn't stretch. Five minutes of stretching before and after a game of golf will enable you to play golf without any trouble or injuries.

A Great Exercise is Walking

If you have been golfing for a while but have always been riding around the course on a golf cart, then you should think about walking instead. If it is your first time walking the course, you might want to begin by walking a number of holes and alternate some holes by getting in the golf cart (presuming you have some golf buddies that can take turns driving the cart for you.) Gradually augment the number of holes that you walk each round until you can manage to walk easily the 18-holes every time.

By carefully planning a complete golf exercise schedule, you can help yourself to improve your game of golf noticeably. If you want to play golf to the next level, you will have to raise your physical fitness levels and your flexibility. You will be astonished at the benefits that it provides to your wellbeing as well as your overall golf game.
