How To Start Learning To Play Golf

2016/7/20 9:54:08

So how to start learning to play golf can be a mind numbing experience depending on what you are looking to accomplish, how old you are and how much time you have on your hands. There are many resources to help you, but you can sometimes be put off the game if you don't choose the right way to start.

One way to find out if you are going to like the game is to first of all go to the driving range with a friend and hit some golf balls. Now one big plus of this is that you don't need anything apart from yourself and some trainers as the driving range will rent you some clubs to use and of course provide the golf balls. This way you have a go on your own with no help (apart from some kind words from your friend LOL!) and you will get a feel if you are going to enjoy it or not, plus if you hit the ball well you know you are half way there.

If you are serious and have hit just a few golf balls before then the best way from here would be to find a local PGA Pro that can give you a course of lessons, you should be able to find one by contacting local golf courses and driving ranges nearby where you live. When you decide to pick one, ask lots of questions and make sure you like the way they come across as if you are not comfortable with them then the chances are you will not learn from them very well.

This way forward is going to be the best way to understand the foundations of a good golf swing but also teach you about all the other things that you need to know. For example the rules, golf etiquette, what to wear at the golf course, how to get a handicap and the list goes on. By finding a PGA Pro that you like you will progress quickly and you will enjoy the game more as a personal teacher motivates you to improve and when you improve you feel good.

If you are a very occasional golfer but still want to learn how to play golf correctly, it is good to find someone who is quite good to play with. This is like most sports where when you watch and play against better players you learn quickly and of course the better player can give you some tips during the round. It is still advisable to have he odd lesson from a PGA Pro just so you have the basics in place.

So how to start learning to play golf does not need to be complicated, you can go the easy route and enjoy your odd round with your friends but use it as a learning process and progress to personal instruction. Or you can go to your PGA Pro and get on going lessons and advice immediately because you are keen to do everything correctly from the start. Even if you choose the driving range you will know if you want to pursue the game or just have fun and not worry too much about the results.
