Playing Golf - Why It Is So Popular

Playing a certain sport is a big part in alot of peoples life all around the world. Whether it be cricket, tennis, soccer or basketball, the list goes on. It keeps you fit and entertained. But why is this wonderful game the biggest individual, solo playing sport in the world?

I am a golfing fan and have played for 11 years. Although my handicap is not all that low, golf is a sport where i can go and relax and take my mind off all of lifes drama. To play golf you need concentration, skill and a willingness to learn. It is probably, well in my eyes, the most skillful game in the world, To hit a ball in a hole so far away in so few strokes so consistently is extremely hard. The way that the tour players make it look so easy on television is remarkable. It is definitely not an easy sport.

When playing the game of golf, you can always improve. There is no perfection and that is what brings people back to this great game. Playing a round of golf and shooting even par is never enough. I know when i play i always want to improve and better every shot i play. Whenever you miss a 10 foot putt, you usually want to do it again and again until you succeed. So you play another round and conquer the hole.

When choosing a sport at a young age, usually you want it to be fun and challenging to some degree. There are plenty of team sports out there of which are extremely popular. take soccer and cricket. These are the 2 most popular team sports in the world. They are both games that i enjoy watching. In fact, cricket is my favourite sport just in front of golf. But what makes the two, cricket and golf, different is that you don't have to count on your teammates to be successful. This counts for all team sports. If you as the individual score a century and take a 5 wicket haul in one game of cricket, it doesn't mean you are going to win the match.Yes you have had a hell of a match but the whole team might have played poorly which in turn makes your efforts nearly not noticed. Which really sucks for the player.

Playing the game of golf, however, is all you. If you knock your ball out of bounds, there is nobody to blame but you and as a solo player, you need to fix your game yourself. Now this is why golf is such a popular game. There's no counting on players to convert your efforts into a win. Its all about swinging that golf club as consistently as possible.

With so many big sports in the world, with soccer and and cricket being increasingly popular, golf still stands out as one of the biggest world wide. Its a game that requires concentration, skill and a consistent golf swing. This game is also is an individual sport, so hitting the ball in the water on the 10th hole from the tee is nobodys fault but yours. And for this reason, the great game of golf will keep getting more and more popular as people want a challenge without relying on others.
