Putting Game

The putting game! It almost boggles the mind that golf tournament after golf tournament usually comes down to the putting game. Yet, the amount of importance that the putting game should receive is negligible. Why is that? Why is it that no matter which professional they talk to, usually mentions that they left a few strokes out there because I didn't make the putts. They had the opportunity to close the tournament out but just could not get any putts to fall or get their putting stroke to feel comfortable.

You don't usually hear them say I could not find the fairway all day or I missed every green because my irons were off target. They will somewhere in the conversation admit to not have a good putting game that day or that their putting stroke was just out of sync. Yet, advertisement after advertisement is mostly about the driver, the irons, or even the balls. I understand that those are the products designed by manufacturers to make them money and if they are endorsed by winning popular professionals, sales will be high. I understand that distance creates a lot of buzz to amateurs. But then think about this, do you hear the loudest roar from the gallery when the ball gets blasted down the fairway or when a 15 foot putt is made? You know the answer is from the Putt!!

The weekend amateur, the regular guy or woman, needs to be smart enough to understand the vast difference between the professional and themselves. You just have to be realistic in the fact that you work a different job for a living. You don't get to have practice sessions with a coach 5 or 6 hours a day that can help you with your golf game. You just try to play as best you can and comprehend what will help you lower your scores while you are having fun and not getting frustrated..

The other thing that the weekend player needs to do is actually listen to the professionals. Take a little time to research and you will find that the professionals work on their putting game more than any other phase of the game. They strive to have that consistent putting stroke that can put their putting game at the top of the Tour.

There is nothing wrong with buying new drivers, irons and wedges should you have the disposable income, but please do it with the understanding that all the new equipment in the world may not lower your scores as quickly and consistently than if you were to get help with putting. Every professional worth their salt will tell you the correct way to learn to play golf is from the green to the tee. That means learn how to putt.

Putting, the part of the game that has intimidated most players since the game started. Do you know that at one time they did not mark the ball? If the opposing players ball were in your way, you would have to chip over their ball, give that a try. ha, most courses catch you trying that, even on the practice green, and you will certainly be escorted out of the facility possibly with a repair bill.

I am not trying to insult anyone nor discourage anyone from trying products. What I am saying is that the quickest, easiest, most cost effective way to lower your scores on a more consistent and permanent basis is to get help with putting. Golf Tips are great, but they are just that, tips. You first need to learn a proven method of Putting for you to learn how to improve putting.
