Purchasing The Correct Golf Cart Enclosures

2016/7/20 10:35:25

While they may not be the most attractive of accessories you can buy for your golf cart, enclosures can look quite good and it should be remembered that they are not really designed to make your cart look more attractive. The purpose of an enclosure quite simply is to protect the inside of your cart, and of course yourself, from the wind and the rain if you get caught out in bad weather.

An enclose is not designed to be cosmetic and to improve the appearance of your cart, but is simply an utilitarian accessory to be added to your cart for protection in bad weather. Its one and only role in life is to keep the interior of your cart and its passengers dry. Remember too that enclosures and covers are two quite different things with covers being designed to act as a garage for your cart when it is parked and you do not have access to garage facilities.

Do you actually have any need for an enclosure? If you spend half you life out on the golf course no matter whether it is rain or shine then this is going to be a very necessary accessory. If, however, you only play occasionally and only ever when the sun id shining then you may not think this is necessary at all. Of course, even fair weather golfers do get caught out by unexpected changes in the weather.

How often you play is naturally a major consideration in any purchasing decision. However, even if you are not that frequent a player you may still decide that you do not want your game to be halted simply by a short burst of rain. In fact, it is very much like the umbrella which most of us carry about in the trunk of our car. It will probably rarely see the light of day but, when it is needed, you are very glad it is there.

There are not only different qualities of enclosure available but they also come in a range of designs. For example, a heavier weight enclosure will provide greater protection from the weather and will last longer than a thinner, light-weight model, but it will also take more work to put it on and take it off your cart. Likewise, a model fitted with flap openings might be easier to get into and out of than a model with zipper doors, but the price you pay for this is slightly less protection from such things as strong winds.

Last, but by no means least, you should ask yourself whether or not your cart has been customized and, if it has been, whether any custom parts added will prevent an off-the-shelf enclosure from providing the tight fit needed to keep the elements at bay. If your cart will not take a standard enclosure then your best option will be to have one custom made.

A golf cart enclosure is essential for anyone who spends any reasonable amount of time out playing golf. Just make sure when you are shopping for an enclosure that it fits your cart and that it is of a design and quality that suits your needs and pocketbook.
