Being a fan of golf is not just about playing golf with friends, it can often lead to taking an interest in watching golf and knowing about the courses around the world. The big name golfers are rightly paid a lot of money for their skills at the game but some of the biggest names in golf are the venues and golf courses. Whether they represent the traditions of golf and have been around for hundreds of years or they showcase the new era of golf with courses appearing in exotic locations, there are many brilliant golf courses around the world.

People have an interest in these courses because they host the major events and players and if you are going on holiday, it is good to know which courses are in your area. Away from the United States, the United Kingdom probably have the most traditional golf courses that are known by reputation. St Andrews, Royal Lytham & St Annes and Turnberry are all golf course names that easily roll off the tongue for any golf fan and provide a great place to see some of the world’s biggest golfing events. There are emerging golf courses in the Far East and Asia that are more exotic or exciting than these traditional courses but the sense of history that can be found in these places will more than satisfy most golf fans.
