Learning the Game of Golf for Beginners

2016/7/20 10:49:39

Golf is a game that has been played for years and has many players enjoying the sport all over the world. So to help out new golf players there is a way to chart your progress by using your golf handicap. A golfing handicap is a measure of a golfer’s playing ability based on the tees played on each course.

The handicap is the number used to work out a score that is the average score by the number of strokes actually played; this makes it possible for people of differing skill levels to play against each other competitively and fairly. In general the one who shoots the best should win the game.

There are websites and services which could help you get your golf handicap recognised online, saving you time and effort. A golf handicap gives you the advantage of knowing what you’re capable of when playing and it will measure your number of strokes compared to everyone else. It will also tell you how you rate; this can be done over a period of time too which can be helpful when seeing how you are progressing over time as your handicap drops or rises.

Many golf courses will require knowing your golf handicap or at least having one completed before you are allowed to play there, so getting your handicap measured is worth it if you wish to have the widest range of courses to play at. Some sites will only need as little as three of your latest golf score cards for your handicap to be calculated, although you may wish to submit more for a more accurate assessment, once this has been done you will have a starting point to work with.

Golf lessons are a must, especially for newcomers. A Golf professional will be able to make sure you learn the right techniques and don’t fall in to the traps that some novices can fall into such as poor stances and swinging motions. Still there are some things you should know before all of that, even if you do decide to go it alone. One of the key elements to any golf game is the stance, this can vary depending on the type of shot you need to take but what follows is a little bit of advice to get your started…

Maybe you have already heard some talk about what your stance should be like, but here is a version that works well: The bottom edge of the golf club must line up with your target. You need to visualize the shot you are going to take, and be specific. Second, you need to swing with your whole body, not just your hips or arms, use your shoulders and your back too. You must have good balance throughout your shot; one way to tell is if you are able to stand straight after your shot, if not then you need to go and practice some more.

There are plenty of discount golf opportunities such as free lessons on the internet and cheap golf handicap services to get your skill level accurately assessed and get an idea of how far you have to go in becoming a better golfer.
