2010 British Open Odds to Win Favor Tiger Woods

2016/7/20 14:27:28

2010 British Open odds will begin play on Thursday from the St. Andrews Links Old Course in Fife, Scotland. A total of 600 FedExCup points will be on the line with a total purse of $7 million. Stewart Cink is the defending champion as he edged out Tom Watson in overtime in what was both a thriller and a heartbreaker as Watson attempted to become the oldest player to win a major only to falter on the 18th. Tiger Woods opened as the golf betting favorite in 2010 British Open odds at 5-1with Phil Mickelson 12-1 and Rory McIlroy next at 14-1. Ernie Els 16-1 and Lee Westwood 18-1 are the next betting selections at online sportsbooks.

Two time Open winner Padraig Harrington has opened at 20-1 while the defending champion Cink is an 90-1 longshot. Tiger Woods will be grouped with Justin Rose of England for the first two rounds of 2010 British Open. Rose has the hot hand as of late with two wins in his last three starts. He won the AT&T National on July 4th and was the winner of The Memorial on June 6th. Camilo Villegas will also join the group. Graeme McDowell, the Irishman who won the US Open, will also be on hand and is 25-1 at online sportsbooks. He has also won the Wales Open this year. He will open in a group with Geoff Oglivy and Jim Furyk.

Mickelson will open in a group with Colin Montgomerie and Retief Goosen. Goosen handed Mickelson one of his most painful defeats of his career in the 2004 US Open. Harrington will begin play with the 60 year old Watson and 18 year old Ryo Ishikawa with Watson a 150-1 longshots in British Open odds. St. Andrews is a links course that is an acquired taste to some, though Woods loves it. "I fell in love with it the first time I ever played it," said Woods this week. The Open will begin play on Thursday July 13th from Scotland and can be seen on ABC and ESPN.
