Initially, for a golfer to play the game of golf they need the proper equipment or tools of the trade, so to speak.  As every human body differs in size and shape, clubs are also designed to fit the different body type.  Traditional equipment for the game used to consist of a Wood or Driver, Irons and a Putter.  In 2010, a set of golf clubs now usually includes as many as fourteen clubs including a driver, fairway woods, hybrid clubs, irons, wedges, and putter.  These new additions have made the idea of purchasing golf equipment rather overwhelming for the average Joe or Jane wishing to take up the sport.

Footwear is another extremely important component to any golfer's supplies.  Golf spikes (preferable soft spikes opposed to obsolete steel spikes), well gripped athletic shoes that will not tear up grass and delicate putting greens or the newly invented retractable spiked shoes are a must for every golfer.  Some golf courses will deny play if proper footwear is not worn.

Clothing must also be considered as a golf supply because without proper clothing that meets specific golf course dress codes, one might also be denied playing privileges.   Although dress codes have become much more lax on the golf course from the previous days of pants, long skirts and full sleeves, collared shirts and bottoms of appropriate length are usually still required.

Moving past the list of ‘must haves’ that every golfer must have, there are a few other supplies that can be useful at some point during a round of golf. A small brush tool for cleaning your clubs while on the go is always a great idea to have around, as well as a good towel to wipe them down. It is always a great idea to make sure there are enough golf balls and tees in your bag to get you through eighteen holes.  No one likes to run out of balls on the fourteenth tee.  Your favorite ball marker and ball mark repairer to fix any ball marks on the green when putting also should never be left out of your golf bag.

Another great idea to always have packed away in your golf bag is a collection of sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat or visor, a collapsible umbrella and even a small first aid kit available for most sporting stores.  Definitely have Band-Aids and tissues packed away somewhere in your bag.

With these supplies, every golfer should have exactly what they need to enjoy their day out on the links.
