Golfing In And Around Knysna

2016/7/20 15:49:26

With several golf estates and courses nearby, you can enjoy a different round every day of the week, for two weeks, when staying in and around the picturesque seaside town of Knysna. Whether you play off a scratch handicap or would just like to try your hand out at this popular sport, you are sure to find a course to suit your needs.

Knysna Golf Course meanders among tidal pools and tall indigenous trees with outstanding views of the Heads. The 18-hole course features fine bent-grass greens in a parkland layout and a friendly clubhouse for relaxing after a challenging round. Knysna Golf Course is one of the more affordable and down to earth golfing options among the new luxurious golfing estates which have sprung up in the area.

Nearby Simola Golf Course is considered one of South Africa’s best and was designed by Jack Nicklaus. The Knysna Heads dominate the landscape here and the course runs alongside the picturesque Knysna River, providing a pleasing scenic background to your round of golf. Typical of Nicklaus’ design, the course makes the best use of this scenery and landscape to create challenging golf with fairways flowing along the undulating landscape and dramatic views at every hole.

Pezula Championship Course is located close by, with its international-standard 18-hole course designed by David Dale and Ronal Fream of GolfPlan USA. Eyebrow bunkers and rolling fairways amid the fynbos add to the challenge here, with five different tee options at each hole. You can expect breath-taking sea views around every turn from this cliff top course and look forward to elegant dining, a friendly bar, heated swimming pool, practice area, tennis and a pro-shop at the exclusive clubhouse.

Other golf courses within100km radius of Knysna are Plettenberg Country Club, Fancourt with its Links, Montagu and Outeniqua courses, Goose Valley, Glenwood Short Course, George Golf Club, Kingswood Golf Estate and Oubaai.
