Arjun Atwal – The Most Successful Indian Golfer Till Date

Earlier, the lights and cameras of the sports media used to focus solely on the international golfers from USA and other parts of the world. Today, it has shifted on the Indians who are going on contributing splendid stuff on the golfing grounds. Well, Tiger Woods had his heydays and at one time he was considered unbeatable. His performance however started dipping after he got involved in a big scam. Now, it's the Indian golfers who are making some real golf news. Arjun Singh Atwal is one such golf legend that has made way to millions of hearts. Today, his fame and popularity has gifted him international recognition.

Arjun Singh Atwal is one such professional golfer who has participated in the Asian Tour as well as the European Tour. In fact, he is the first Indian golfer to make way to the PGA Tour and later win it. As far as his early life goes, Arjun played his first match at the age of fourteen at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club and the Tollygunge Club. In 1995, he achieved his professional standards and emerged to be one of the leading golfers of the Asian Tour. In 2003, he topped the list of the order of merit and became the first golfer to win 1 million US dollars at the Hero Honda Masters. This was probably the biggest golf news that year.
Arjun Singh Atwal became the second golfer to win membership for the European Tour after the stunning victory of Jeev Milkha Singh. Again in 2003, Atwal got a striking victory at the European tour for the second time at the Carlsberg Malaysian Open. Well, the chain of victories kept on extending as he ended up 7th at the PGA Tour. He was fortunate to also earn the 2004 PGA Tour Card as the first East Indian golfer.

Atwal's victory at the Bell South Classic in 2005 got him in the list of successful international golfers. This was the biggest golf news. He came quite close to almost win the PGA Tour that year but unfortunately failed. In the year 2007, Arjun faced an accident while participating in a street car racing on an SR 535 and landed up with minor injuries. He was more unfortunate when he lost his PGA Tour Card at the RBC Canadian Open in 2010 owing to a shoulder injury. Later, Atwal recaptured his playing privileges by receiving an invitation at the 2011 Masters Tournament.
The greatest golf news that spread around the sports media was Arjun Singh Atwal's triumph at the PGA Tour as the first Indian golfer. Since he lost his tour card, he didn't get the opportunity to draw FedEx Cup Points on his victory. In fact, one of the greatest golf news is that Arjun Atwal has been Tiger Woods' practice partner for full five years at Florida. Today, he has achieved eminence in the world of golf and will go on with his mind-blowing performances and glorious victories in the near future.
