Arizona Golf Communities

It's quite amazing how many professional golfers have designed golf courses throughout the United States and how many luxurious communities have been planned around them, including those in Arizona. Any golfer recognizes names like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tom Weiskopf, and Tom Fazio, just to mention a few. It requires considerable assets to be among those who can afford the membership to play on a private golf course designed by such a player.

Even so, membership is not capped until it reaches the 300 to 450 mark. Some Arizona golf communities allow a membership to be purchased without actual residency in the community. In that case, serious golfers may live somewhere less expensive, while coming up with the funds needed to purchase a social membership, for example.

Too many golf communities exist in Arizona to be listed. However, they include Desert Mountain, which has six 18-hole golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus, Estancia and Mirabel, each of which has one 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Fazio. Tom Weiskopf had a hand in designing the Troon courses. Still more famous names are associated with other Arizona golf communities.

Arizona Golf Communities Vary Greatly in Acreage

Master planned communities can be astonishingly large. Desert Mountain, for example, covers 8,100 acres and is not the largest. Homes there range from $635,000 (without a membership) to almost 10 million dollars. Lots range from $270,000 (without a membership) to almost four million dollars. Other planned golfing communities may be smaller, ranging from approximately 600 to 1,000 acres.
