The Basics of Buying Golf Clothes

Golf clothes can reinforce or create an overall image about you whether you are playing with friends, family or business associates. While the chances of winning the game are a matter of chance, you have the ability to control the kind of clothes you wear. In order to dress impressively for this sport, you need to choose the perfect dress code and also be mindful of changing fashion trends. To guide you through the process of choosing the best clothes, you need to consider the following.

Understanding Clothing Etiquette

Before making the decision on the kind of clothes to buy, you need to be well versed with standards requirements for dressing. In this case, there are a couple of rules you have to apply and this is in regard to the following.

* Gold tops: You can opt for the classic polo shirt or knit golf. Majority of adults have these and they can be worn in casual environments for purposes of business. Beginners therefore can find it easy to make informed choices and they do not need to spend large amounts of money. If you intend to play on a regular basis though, you can settle for sportswear that is guaranteed to keep you cool and also allows better motion.

* Bottoms: Twill slacks are recommended for both female and male players. Beginners can buy regular khaki pants though it is ideal to note those who play in denim are viewed as casual players and they cannot be taken seriously. Jeans restrict movement while long pants that have cuffs are not recommended since they collect and attract dirt. During warm weather, shorts are acceptable.

Dress Codes

You need to be mindful about the kind of clothes you wear on golf courses. This is because it is necessary to dress appropriately for the purpose of maintaining the image and standards of the golf club. Note that the strictness of dress code in most courses is proportionate to exclusivity and cost of the course. The rules that need to be followed in this regard are as follows.

* Tops: Generally, majority of the golf courses insist that both women and men should have collared shorts. Knit tops make it easy for players to enjoy more freedom while swinging and it is for this reason that standard golf shirts are recommended. The shirts can either be short or long sleeved in accordance to the weather. In some instances, sleeveless golf shirts are recommended for women. Tube tops, swimsuits, halters, and sweatshirts are not recommended.

* Bottoms: Though shorts and denim jeans are affordable, they should be avoided when picking golf clothes. There are some courses that accept use of golf shorts though majority of the upscale clubs require use of pants only. The length of shorts allowed is also specific and they should neither be too long or too short. Investing in pants and golf shorts is a smart idea as it gives you couple of options to work with when dressing.

Before you invest in any golf clothes, it is essential to take time and thoroughly evaluate individual pieces of clothing. Research and get as much information as possible on what is considered appropriate and what is prohibited. While at it, you can also look into accessories.
