Why Golf Cars Are Replacing Automobiles in Florida

A new trends that many news agencies have been reporting on is the prevalence of golf cars in some towns, especially in the State of Florida. Golf cars are simply electric cars that look like golf carts in some cases, or may be uniquely built so that they look completely different, but they all are of the same basic design. Some towns are seeing more of these golf cars than regular cars on the street.

There are a few reasons The people choose to go with golf cars instead of a regular automobile. First they are cheaper. In fact there quite a bit cheaper. The average golf car costs between $5000 to $10,000, while automobiles can run around twenty to thirty thousand. The average golf car is about one third cheaper than an automobile from a dealership.

There are other reasons that people are going with golf cars well and the fact that they're cheaper isn't even the main reason. Probably the main reason that many people choose to go with this type of vehicle is to save on gas. Gasoline prices are creeping higher and higher.

There are other reasons as well. For one thing, they take up less space on the road, and they especially take up less parking spaces. The average parking space can hold two or three golf cars, and they make it much easier on other drivers.

Your golf car will need to run on electricity. You can get about 50 miles if you charger car for eight hours but some of the vehicles may last little bit longer and some may last even shorter times. As the technology improves you probably see cars that go for hundreds of miles off of one charge.

One of the other factors that may be influencing people's purchase of golf cars is the environment. Since cars are powered by gasoline and do pollute the atmosphere with their emissions, Golf cars are cleaner and safer vehicle. As more and more areas become polluted more people will be switching to electric cars or some equivalent.

The reality is, oil is a limited resource and even though it may not run out any time in the future, it is going to be gone eventually, and using smaller, electric vehicles like golf cars can help to start a process that will make sure that our chidren's children don't rely on oil to propel their vehicles.

If you think that golf cars may be an appropriate mode of transportation in your city or town talk to your city officials about allowing golf cars to be street legal.
