Key To A Better Golf Swing

There are hundreds of professional golfers around the world, and they all probably swing the club differently, even if they had the same trainer, there are usually tiny differences. But all of these professionals will absolutely agree on one thing that is vital to having a great swing, and that is balance. Every professional golfer has amazing balance during their entire swing, you never see golfers falling over after their swing or looking wobbly during it. This is because striking the ball perfectly requires you to have complete control over your body, even the slightly imbalance will lead you to hit the ball in a different spot than you were trying to. It does not take much to mess up a shot, if your club hit's the ball a quarter of an inch over from where you were trying to hit it, it will end up somewhere you do not want it to go.

Your body needs to be very relaxed when you are swinging a golf club, the more tense you are, the more difficult it is going to be for you to stay balanced. Swinging too hard is another common mistake by beginner golfers, it is important to understand that a smooth swing that hit's the ball squarely is better than swinging as hard as you can and missing the center of your club head. A loose, relaxed and balanced swing is the key to a great golf swing. Power comes from precision, not brute force.

Your head needs to be still during your swing and your eyes need to be fixated on the ball at all times. The easiest way to throw yourself off balance is to lose sight of the ball during your swing. Taking your eyes off it and then trying to pick it back up again will almost always cause you to lose your balance and definitely not hit the ball squarely. I can not stress this fact enough, ALWAYS keep your eyes on the ball. Your head must stay as still as possible, keep it down and see the club go through the ball. Watching yourself in the mirror is a good tactic to see how your body is moving, if your head is moving, and how relaxed you are. You will be able to see if you are too tense in the mirror.

Your follow through is a great way to tell if you had a good swing and if you were balanced throughout it. If you can not hold your follow through at least until your ball has landed, then you are not staying balanced. Falling over after your shot should immediately tell you that something is wrong with your swing. If you work on keeping your head straight, your eyes focused and your body relaxed, it will lead to a nice smooth swing. It will be difficult to over swing if your stay relaxed. Get out to the range and work on slow smooth swings, if you are a beginner and just trying to hit the ball as far as you can because it is fun, slow and smooth is the way to go. I know that sounds silly, but I promise it is better than swinging too hard.
