What Makes The Best Golf Simulator?

How are you supposed to know which is the best golf simulator? Ever since I started playing golf, simulators have been a popular topic amongst golfers. There are many available models of simulators in today's market, from portable ones to enormous projection based home theater installations, and they range from affordable to really expensive. You name it, they've got it. There are many companies that sell these systems, each one offering different things and services. It can be a very tedious and confusing task trying to buy a golf simulator. However, it all comes down to one simple question: Which one is the best? It is a fact that simple questions never have a simple answer.

While browsing for the best golf simulator, one must ask ourselves what would be the best for us. Are we looking for a portable model? Do we want a whole big installation in our basement? Or do we simply want a not so expensive addition to our business? In my own experience considering multiple factors before buying a model is the best thing, as it could really help you save a lot of money, time and effort.

The first factor you should consider is the reason why you are buying the simulator. If you are a casual player that enjoys playing golf from time to time, then a simple system with the basic features should be enough for you. On the other hand, if you represent a big golf company that is looking for a top of the line simulator as an addition to one of their golf clubs, then a bigger and more complete version will fit your needs nicely. Some models might include different built-in systems such as swing analysis and training help. It all depends on what you are looking for.

After having figured out the purpose of your purchase, the second factor comes in: technology. Most of the current golf simulators operate by the same basic principles: sensors, software and graphics. All of these include laser/infrared sensors, accurate physics engines, powerful video cards and processors. You might also need to ask for expansions or online services to optimize the gaming experience, and additional golf courses or multiplayer modes might be available. Make sure that before buying a simulator you are fully informed about the most advanced and accurate technologies for the system, because if you don't, your whole simulation experience will not be as real as expected.

Last but not least: the budget. Buying a golf simulator system is not a small investment, and it should not be taken lightly. The companies will try to sell you their most expensive models and services. Nevertheless, you should research and ask for their other models and prices because you could miss a model that might suit perfectly the size of your budget if you do not take seriously the research. Keep in mind that the most expensive model is not necessarily the best one or vice versa.

Buying a golf simulator is not an easy task. The amount of invested money is usually large, and as a result, high expectations are frequent. If you take everything into careful consideration, then you will be more likely to find the best golf simulator.
