The Top Golfing Distractions

Getting out to play a round or two of golf can often be the highlight of the week. It's just you, your golf clubs, and your buddies. Well that's the way we'd like to imagine it anyway, but typically, sod's law says that distractions will make themselves known in various forms. We've thought long and hard and have come up with what we believe are the top distractions on the golf course.

The weather While this can often be quite an easy excuse (as in, "I missed that shot because of the wind", or "I can't see because of the rain") it produces a very real difficultly for getting the best scores in the game; unless of course you depend on the wind to bring your ball a little bit further or more to the left or right. There is often nothing worse than heading off for a game of golf in your snazzy golf clothes, and then having the heavens open wide when you are about to tee off. Lesson learned: always be prepared with a hat, umbrella and raincoat.

Other people As you are probably not going to be the only person or people on the golf course at any one time, other people can often be sources of irritation or distraction. "Did you see the hat that guy was wearing?" or "Has that girl ever even hit a ball before?" are common questions you ask in your head or out loud. Then again, sometimes the most annoying thing is when you yourself are having a slow game, and you have people waiting behind you to use the hole. The pressure! Lesson learned: keep your eyes on the ball, or put in a pair of earplugs.

Your clubs Strangely, your own golf club set can be a source of distraction; you might find yourself imagining having a brand new set of expensive and beautiful irons and drivers. Keeping your clubs in good condition and looking clean can keep these feelings at bay while you are on the course. Although, no one is going to stop you if you idolise some amazing clubs when you are sat daydreaming at home! Lesson learned: clean your clubs and keep them in the best possible condition.

So the next time you are on the golf course, try to ignore the distractions for a great day out with your buddies and your trusted golf clubs.
