Putting Practice Drills - Eliminate 3 Putts For Good With These Drills

When it comes to golf, everyone knows just how hard putting is and how important it is to your overall score for the day. Even if you are striking the ball well for the round, your score can suffer dramatically if you do not have the flat stick working for you that day. Eliminating 3 and 4 putts from your card is a vital aspect in improving your game, and I have a few putting practice drills that can help you to start eliminating those annoying 3 putts and have you shooting lower scores right away.

My Top 3 Putting Practice Drills

1. The Coin Drill - Start by placing your ball on top of a coin, preferably a small one like a dime or penny. Start out at a short distance (5 feet or less) until you get dialed in. Make your normal putting stroke but after striking the ball be sure to keep your head down, watching your coin, not the ball. Instinctively we will want to follow the ball, so try to fight that and stay focused on the coin, not the ball. This drill will teach you discipline with your stroke by keeping your head down after impact where it should be.

2. Eye Closed Drill - At first, you might think I am crazy. However, putting practice drills with your eyes closed can be extremely beneficial. The reason for this is because when your eyes are closed your brain will be able to focus more clearly on what movements the rest of your body is making. You will really be able to feel the movements of the shoulders more clearly, and you will notice whther or not they have the pendulum type feel you are looking for.

3. Head Still Drill - In golf, keeping your head still is a very important part to making solid contact with your putts. Really focuis on keeping your head still well after impact of the ball. Head movements during your stroke will cause your shoulders to open and your putter to slice across the ball, which will make consistency a major issue.

These 3 putting practice drills will undoubtabley help you improve your stroke immediately. In golf, muscle memory is a huge factor in the way you play. That is why it is so important to not only read about these drills but implement them as well.

Putting Practice Drills are a great way to start lowering your scores right away. I bet everyone reading this article has 3 putt, and maybe even 4 putt not to long ago and that is why you have made your search for help. The old saying driving is for show, butt putting is for dough is 100% true. If your putter is money, then your scorecard will reflect that. No mater how badly you are playing, your putter can always keep things in check.

Golf Short Game Practice is vital to becoming a good golfer. None of the top golfers around the world became great without a lot of hard work and practice. If you are serious about shaving strokes off your game start practicing immediately, you won't be dissapointed.
