Learning Golf

What On Earth Do I have To Do?

Welcome all golf enthusiasts!!!

For over 100 years now there has been an enormous amount of golf enthusiasts from every imaginable age hitting the ranges, hitting the links and even dropping thousands and thousands of dollars on coaches, psychologists and equipment in multiple attempts to improve their game by as much as 5 strokes.

For sure there are people out there that have just begun and they would be happy to knock off 15 strokes in the first few games. Well it definitely is possible, but we must keep in mind that in order to get better we must consider numerous factors.

1. Do we have the right temperment to listen, read and learn? 2 .Do we have the right temperment to be coachable? 3. Do we have the proper amount of time to dedicate ourselves to learning? 4. Can we accept that our natural ability is not a perfect match for a highly improved game?

Golf is a personable game and it is our own personal traits and skills that will ultimately determine how well we will eventually score. Something as simple as an argument or a nighttime sleepiness the night before can interfere with our ability to focus properly on the links the next day when we play.

When I get a bogey or double bogey on the first hole will I blame it on myself or will I blame it on something or someone else? Maybe there is NOTHING or NOONE to blame?

Maybe we sometimes just need to reflect and accept that day to day conditions in our lives have a direct and/or indirect effect on the results.

This is a game after all and unless we are a Professional earning an income from it, who needs the aggravation of the aggravation? I mean that is just nuts to get in a tizzy about something that we sometimes just can't control.

I am no professional and would never profess to be one. Me personally, I have a fluctuating handicap that ranges from 11 to 14 depending on how much time my business schedule allows me to play and practice. I am also at the point in my life where golf has been accepted as a game and scoring is irrelevant. To me, just getting out with the boys and/or gals to play 19 holes, relax and enjoy is what it is all about. As a matter of fact, I haven't even played with a score card in over 5 years. What's the point?

Whether I shoot 79 or 88 or even a 96 on a bad day, there is no reward, there is no cheering crowd (well maybe the boys or gals I am playing with when I drain an eagle from the fairway) and there hasn't been any big paychecks that I can remember.

I am guessing this is the same for almost all of you reading this, RIGHT?

I thought so.

The key to this game is to learn as much as you can, practice as much as you can, play as much as you can and most importantly have fun as much as you can and provided you do all of this and apply all of this when you play, your game should progress naturally.

If you happen to have a natural talent, which is not rare, but it applies to minority of us, then I would say without any hesitation to improve further on your golf education by reading and learning. I would also say without a hesitation to see a golf teacher that you are comfortable with and get some key pointers to improve on your weaknesses. Don't be spending a lot of money to have your game re-tooled to a point where you need to re-learn, just try and fix what is damaged or broken.

But always remember that you can never affect the game of golf, but it can certainly affect you?

If you are looking to get some golf instruction via e-commerce, maybe you can check out some of the books and/or training instruction below.

In the meantime until I throw out another blog, let me just say a happy mind is a happy score!

Adios to all and see ya soon!
