Tiger Woods Biography: Exploring the New Book & Public Reaction

So there is a new Tiger Woods book due out soon. What’s the big fuss?

• “He’s had his day and won’t climb back to the top.”

• “He deserves what he gets.”

• “He’s got it coming and I hope the whole sordid tory comes out.”

• “Probably just a novel to make money out of his misfortune.”

• “Hank Haney has broken his trust.”

There are lots of different discussions and theories going around.

Where do you sit?

From where I sit there are so many reasons why people would want to read this book.

Tiger’s dramatic fall from public favor and his dismal (by his standards) performances since then has got everyone that loves him or hates him interested in this new Tiger Woods book.

Why the Tiger Woods book is generating so much interest:

1. Tiger is news - he always has been and after his very public marital issues even non-golfers now know who Tiger Woods is.
2. A former swing coach, Hank Haney, wrote the book and up until now no one from his inner circle has written a book about Tiger Woods.
3. Tiger has a new coach and a new caddie – is this maybe implying not all is his fault?
4. Tiger and his management team have inadvertently promoted the book by being a bit precious about Tiger’s privacy. And that is before they have even read it.
5. People want to see Tiger succeed.
6. Others want Tiger to fail (this seems particularly so amongst some of the fairer sex!)
7. The world is curious and loves intrigue and controversy.
8. And I am sure there are many who want to know what makes the man so good – maybe the book will give us insight into this.
9. Even the military will be interested as Tiger apparently considered joining the Seals!

But here’s the thing as I see it.

• Tiger Woods has been (undeniably) very good for golf and golf needs him.
• Hank Haney is a renowned and successful golf coach – he is also a professional.

I cannot see any reason why this book should be anything but a well documented, and truthful, version of the life and times of the coach and his pupil during their time together.

From what I have seen of some of the excerpts from the book this certainly seems to be the case.

I say get it and get is soon for a number of reasons.

1. It’s about (arguably) the greatest golfer to have walked this planet - and yes I think even Jack Nicklaus will get a copy and devour it!
2. It’s written by Hank Haney one of the best coaches in the world who presumably knows what he is talking about.
3. There will be something for all golfers in it.
4. We will finally get some insight into Tiger’s secret world and learn a bit of what makes the man tick.

I am going to get the new Tiger Woods book as soon as it comes out – its going to be the “talk of the town” for months to come. I don't want to be left behind.
