Golf - Is It All In Your Head?

Golf - Is it All In Your Head?

Golf can be one of the most frustrating things in the world. One bad shot can lead to a round that will give you nightmares for weeks. Lack of conidence or frustration can be a leading cause of this. Things like concentrating, relaxing, having confidence may point to one thing. . . Golf is all in your head.

Relaxing on a golf course is a trick that few can master. It is one of the most important aspects of your golf game. This can become next to impossible at any point in your golf round. Especially if you have a short game like me. If you can get better at being relaxed while on the course you will shot lower numbers.

Here are a few tips to help you stay relaxed:

1. If you hit a bad shot do not rush into your next shot. Take a deep breath, walk around a little and then concentrate on what needs to be done to correct the situation.

2. No matter what happens never throw a club. First off this makes you look horrible and may get you kicked off the course. Secondly if your club breaks or goes in the pond this will only lead to more frustration.

3. Remember where you are. When things start going bad remember that there is someone out there that is slaving away at their job wishing they were on the course. Enjoy being on a beautiful course and breathing in the fresh air.

Confidence is everything. If you don't have confidence in your golf game nothing else matters. Even the best pros lose this and it shows in their games. Talent can only get you so far. If you have the confidence you will be fine.

A few tips to help with your confidence level:

1. Whatever the shot you are facing, know that you can hit it. It is a corny line but if you believe you will achieve.

2. Practice makes perfect. If you practice often you will be able to hit any shot. When that happens you will have all the confidence you need.

Concentration is very important aspect of golf also. You need to focus on everything about your shot. There are many things that go into a good golf shot. Losing your concentration can cause bad things to happen. Keep your concentration for a whole round will result in a lot of good golf shots.

Tips for concentration:

1. Have a plan for your shot. Know where you want the ball to go and how it is going to get there.

2. Be aware of your surroundings. This doesn't sound like much but it is. You should know if the wind is blowing and in which direction. Adjust your line accordingly. Another thing that can change everything is if the course is wet. If it is the ball will not go as far or roll very fast.

3. Another obvious one is the cell phone. It is proper golf etiquette to turn the phone off on the course, but more often than not this is ignored. It will be one less thing to distract you and there is nothing more irritating than hearing a phone ring in the middle of your back swing.

These are three extremely important things of a golf game. Three things that point to the fact that golf is all in your head. If you can master anyone of these three things and you will be a better golfer. Mastering all three of these and you will have the makings of a great golfer.
