Golf For The Newbie

Golf for the Newbie

What to expect while playing your first 9 holes of golf: how to get the ball in the air, hitting for distance, rules, etiquette, all of these areas are going through your mind as you step up to the 1st tee. Golf for the newbie is like going into uncharted territory. Relax, take a deep breath and enjoy the game. You don't have to worry, other seasoned golfers will know it is your first time and give you guidance and support. So let's jump in and discuss some of our experiences as a newbie in golf.

Where to begin in your introduction to golf:

With our advanced technology you can watch videos, read golf books, surf the internet and view programs on TV to gain the knowledge on how to play the game. You can master the swing without leaving your house. There is a wealth of information available to get you started in the right direction. For some, including myself, you may just walk on the course and give it your best shot. As you progress getting private lessons will definitely improve your game.

Knowing your way around the golf course:

Golf courses come in all shapes and sizes. The higher level courses are designed for the more advanced golfer. They have very long fairways, and numerous sand traps. Be prepared to loss some balls when you have water traps. I usually use my old battle scared balls. The par 3 courses are smaller and easier for a newbie. Great way to practice distance, club swing and accuracy.

Etiquette-courtesy to other players:

This area can be difficult, here are a few common mistakes. Silence is golden, DO NOT TALK when a player is teeing off. It is rude and thoughtless to the person concentrating on his swing. A term "ready golf" can be brought up during the game. For everyone to have a good time remember to be courteous keep the pace of the game moving. Always look forward and watch the players ahead of you. KEEP UP WITH THEM. Don't spend a long time searching for your ball that fell in the bushes. This is just a short list of tips for keeping harmony during the game.

These are just a few items I have discussed. Take the time to educate yourself and the game will run smoothly. Check out golf instructors for improving your stroke, chipping and putting. It will definitely improve your game. Maintain a confident spirit and you will be quickly on your way to becoming an accomplished player.

Golfing and having fun is just that... FUN! Go out and enjoy the game, have a few laughs and don't be too hard on yourself .

I have enjoyed sharing my thoughts and ideas would love to hear from you..

Best of luck on your game!
