Hall Of Famer – Karrie Webb

Karrie Webb plays in her first tournament at the age of eight years old and receives her first trophy the Encouragement Award. Karrie was so excited she had won a trophy thinking she won the game, just to be let down and told she was in last place.

Webb begins her professional career in 1994 finishing second in the Women’s Australian Open. In 1995, Karrie is named European Rookie of the Year, and in the same year, she won the Weetabix Women’s British Open, the youngest player ever to win this tournament, she was 20 years old.

Making the move from the European Tour to the LPGA Karrie finished second in the qualifying round of the LPGA Tournament. It did not take long to make her mark on the LPGA Tour Webb wins her first tournament at the Health South Inaugural at Walt Disney World Lake Buena Vista Course in Florida, 1996.

Karrie has 38 LPGA Tour wins and an impressive 52 career victories, making Webb Australia’s most successful female golfer on tour. Karrie’s golfing career just takes off at every level for this Australian; Webb has seven Majors under her belt.

Two Player of the Year awards from the LPGA in 1999 and 2000 again in 2000 Webb receives the LPGA Achievement Award. Top money earner on the LPGA Tour in 1996, 1999 and 2000 Karrie was on fire in 99-2000. Webb won the LPGA Varre Trophy in 1997, 1999 and 2000, on fire.

It is no doubt that Karrie is having a better than average golf career, but what does she enjoy outside of the office. Her favorite sports are Australia Cricket, North Queensland Cowboys and the Miami Dolphins. She likes red wine; her favorite technical gadget is her blackberry. Karrie Webb also is involved with the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation a long time supporter of the great work that is being funded for spinal cord injuries.

Karrie sponsors the Karrie Webb Series in partnership with Golf Australia. Giving women with an amateur status a chance to be with Karrie at a LPGA Tournament and see how life is on the LPGA Tour.

A long way for a little eight-year-old girl that thought she just won her first tournament and landed in last place. By far the most prestigious honor of Karrie’s career is her induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2005. Karrie Webb will have her story for all to see, hanging among some of golf’s greatest.
