Treat Dad with Irelands Best Courses

Ireland's famed for its golf courses and for many a trip to the country is a once in a lifetime chance to play on some of the greatest courses in the world. The luscious green of Ireland, its coastal setting and the love of gold in the country ensures it is one of the premium golfing destinations in all of the world and golf deals make this all the more possible.

With a number of the world's best golfers coming from the country and a love of the ball and the club, Golf is one of the country's favourite sports. One of the most encouraging things for the country was the Ryder Cup's appearance in the country a few years ago, alongside this year's Solheim Cup - the equivalent of the women's Ryder Cup in Killeen Castle. So, what are the country's greatest courses, which golfer's dream to play on - so looking to get a daily deal for Irish courses can be worth it.

Royal County Down

This is one of the world's most socially conscious clubs and its membership consists of the elite professions and high flyers from the city of Belfast. This all means there is not only a huge waiting list as few members leave before death, but also that you may befriend a member of a game. The course offers some of the most amazing views of Ireland's scenic north eastern coast and is possibly the best looking course in the world. Its subjectivity to the weather of the area and the naturally rough terrain make it a challenge for even the best of golfers.

Portmarnock

Just like with Royal County Down, Portmarnock is nearly as well known for its membership rules as its golf. The course, which doesn't allow female members is situated on a curving stretch of peninsula near Howth in County Dublin. The links course has played host to over a dozen Irish Opens and offers three nines to people who wish to play it, the red and blue nines make up the championship course, from which stunning picturesque scenes are the norm.

Ballybunion

This course in the south of Ireland, situated in County Kerry is once again located near water - beside Ireland's longest river the Shannon. Built on this river's estuary, the club is a seaside links with few trees and is seen as not only one of the best courses in Ireland but is also in the Top 100 lists of many of the most prestigious magazines in the world.

Old Head

The Kinsale based course on the Old Head course in County Cork offers the charm of Ireland's southern coast and also its locals. This course is ideal for visitors, who will not only appreciate the scenery, but also the amiable attitude of the people who work there, who go that extra mile to make the visitor feel special.

Doonbeg

Doonbeg in County Clare is one of the hardest courses in Ireland, acclaimed for its beauty and criticised for its difficulty, the course had to be changed after its opening in 2002. Greg Norman, who designed the course was livid, however fairways were widened, bunkers removed and thick rough cut. This meant the course offered a faster pace of play and was that bit easier. However, this is not one for the novice, especially when the Atlantic wind howls across the course - a fun and worthwhile experience.

Royal Portrush

Where could we be without this most majestic of courses. Having hosted its first professional tournament in 1895, Royal Portrush is a bastion of golf in Ireland. The course hosted Ireland's first ever Irish Open in 1951 and is one of the country's premium courses. The 36 hole links course offers year round golf and has Graeme McDowell, Open Winner Darren Clarke and Padraig Harrington among its elite members. The course offers beautiful vistas, that will make the have the most avid golfer in awe. It's a challenging course with a range of rough and seaside breezes and is a must for anyone who wishes to experience golfing in Ireland.

As is easily seen Ireland offers a wide range of kinds of courses and also some of the best courses in the world in terms of challenge, beauty and enjoyment. City deals often offer deals to some of these amazing clubs, allowing people to get an insight into the elite courses.
