How To Maintain Golf Cart

The maintenance of golf cart is not at all a big deal if simple things are checked regularly. On reading the manual itself he gets an idea of performing simple and basic maintenance techniques.

Great attention must be given in proper maintenance of batteries, which is the major part of the golf cart.

First and foremost thing is to clean the batteries and refill water. The dirt, dust and grass must be cleaned and removed from the top and sides of the battery. The exteriors of the batteries can be cleaned with a mixture of baking soda and water. Never use commercial liquid cleaners and ensure the solution does not enter the battery.

Now open each cell and check the water level. If the water level is below the specified mark refill the cells with distilled water so that leaded plates must be covered in water. Never fill water up to the cap level or above the specified mark.

Moreover never leave the batteries uncharged if its charge level is low. The cable connectors and battery caps must be tightened firmly and a light coating of petroleum jelly will stop corrosion of wirings.

Another significant part of the golf cart that needs regular maintenance is its tires. The tire pressure must be maintained to the prescribed standard value. Too little or too high tire pressure will cause the tire wear quickly. Normally the tires are designed for low speeds. If the carts are driven extremely faster, the wheels and tires will not withstand the speed. Hence both have to be changed other than the standard size.

Moreover, if the cart tires are build up precisely, they can effectively direct dirt and dust outside, which helps tires to last longer.

Apart from all these, regular cleaning of spark plugs, oil filters, air filters and periodic oil change will help the golf cart to stay in good condition.

Beyond these weekly regular checks, the golfer must schedule a major check-up every three months and take the cart to a professional mechanic. The functioning of brake system, engine and suspension are systematically checked and fixed during these visits.

The golfer can easily perform simple things like cleaning batteries, checking tire pressure of his own. Of course for complex functioning problems, definitely you must seek the help of a professional mechanic. Proper weekly checkups and timely fixing the problems makes the golf cart run in great condition for several golf seasons.
