Long Tee Shot TaylorMade R9 Super Tri Driver Review

The TaylorMade R9 Super Tri Driver offers terrific distance that is achieved through optimization. This club has a 460cc head and a lower cg, meaning long shots that get you to the green faster. This club promotes up to 75 yards of side-to-side trajectory change for straighter, longer tee shots. These new golf clubs has a new aerodynamic shape with deeper face, meaning bigger hits with more spin, which carries the ball farther.

The original R9 used both adjustable face technology and adjustable weight positioning technology but only in a 420cc head. The reduction in forgiveness in the R9 was noticeable for those used to the larger heads. The follow up R9 460 had the adjustable face technology but the boffins could not quite manage to add in the moveable weights that has been so successful for TM since its introduction in the R7 to a larger 460cc head. The TaylorMade R9 Super Tri driver sees the first time TaylorMade has combined adjustable face technology and adjustable weight positioning technology in a 460cc head.

To allow a 460cc club head to accommodate both Movable Weight Technology and Flight Control Technology TaylorMade had to find a way of saving weight and they have managed to do this by using their own Ultra-Thin Wall technology more effectively throughout these golf clubs and reducing the weight of the Flight Control Technology mechanism by some three grams. And the three movable weights give you complete control of CG position.

The TaylorMade R9 Super Tri driver clubhead offers better aerodynamics than previous R9 drivers through a redesigned crown, a deeper face, and center of gravity that is slight more rearward compared to previous generations of R9.
