Swing Tips For You (I)

I believe every of us wants to improve our first swing on the golf course. The drive sets up every other shot for the hole, and a good drive can be the difference between an easy par or birdie chance and a struggle to make bogey.

Besides swinging the ball with your golf irons, driving the ball far is also one of the funniest parts of the game. But the secret to long drives is not in the golf clubs you use but rather in your ability to swing.

When most golfers step on the golf course they're not confident in their ability to swing all their clubs. Many amateurs have practiced their callaway x-22 irons but have serious trouble transferring that swing to the driver. As such many find it hard to believe, but it is absolutely true that:

The golf driver swing is fundamentally the same as the iron swing. You have to know this to be true. There are some adjustments to be made in terms of stance and ball positioning, but the reality is that there are 13 golf clubs, but only 1 golf swing.

The driver is larger and more difficult to control than the irons. This means: It is especially important to swing the club by rotating your torso not by just swinging your arms. Many players get away with using their arms to swing with the short irons, but have trouble swinging your longer taylormade r9 irons, and have extra trouble with their golf driver swing. Keep your back straight and rotate your shoulders along with your arms. Your arms should move with your shoulders as one unit. This makes your swing dependent on rotation and will provide a smoother swing arc that will increase your control of the driver. Rotation is essential to hitting long and straight shots on the golf course.
