The R9 SuperTri Driver...Another Great Addition to TaylorMade

Do you like the ability to adjust weights in your driver to have you own personal feel? Do you like to have control and know where you drive is going to go off the tee? TaylorMade has used Flight Control Technology (FCT) and Movable Weight Technology?(MWT? with three movable weights but never in the same club. Now TaylorMade has combined the two great technologies into one great driver. Introducing the R9 SuperTri Driver. FCT and MWT with three movable weights in a 460cc head provide the technology to maximize distance and give the player great forgiveness.

The ability of FCT and MWT technology to work together comes from several enigeering discoveries and innovations. First, the R9 SuperTri Driver uses Ultra-Thin Wall Technology throughout the clubhead. The lighter clubhead provides greater forgiveness. Second, a new lighter FCT sleeve that is much lighter. Also, the center of gravity is two millimeters farther back in the head, making it easier to create more spin while launch the ball higher. The MWT promotes side-to-side trajectory changes which can help add up to 75 yards distance in some players. Finally, Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) is a vital oompenent of the R9 SuperTri Driver. ICT is found in the back of the clubface, and increases the area of the clubface that delivers fast ball speed. ICT promotes more distance of the tee even when the ball hit off-center.

The R9 SuperTri's clubhead is sleeker than previous R9 driver heads, thanks to a reshaped crown that reduces wind resistance. Though the shape is more aerodynamic, the face is the deepest (62mm) TaylorMade has ever incorporated into a driver with MWT, and is deeper than most other competitive drivers currently on the market. Visually, the R9 SuperTri clubhead is a killer, thanks to its new shape and its black-on-black color scheme, including a black PVD clubface last seen in the r7 SuperQuad.

The new shaft in the R9 SuperTri works with the clubhead technology to increases distance and control. The R9 SuperTri is equipped with a Fujikura Motore 60-gram shaft, which makes the driver lighter than than the R9. In addition to being lighter, the Motore 60 makes it easier to launch the ball on a higher launch angle and at a higher spin-rate, which helps many players achieve longer carry for increased distance.

The R9 SuperTri unites four viable performance technologies: FCT, MWT, UTW and ICT. Never before have four such impactful, performance-enhancing technologies been combined so effectively in a single driver. Plus, there's the superior aerodynamics of the new crown shape.

The R9 SuperTri and R9 SuperTri TP are the most advanced, highest-performing drivers TaylorMade has ever developed. The distance-producing power and shot-straightening abilities created by their combined clubhead size, clubhead design, performance technologies and shaft specifications make them clubs that no golfer should be without.

Starting February 19, 2010 the new R9 SuperTri Driver will available to purchase at a cost of $399. The R9 SuperTri includes three weights ?16-gram, 1-gram, 1-gram ?and an FCT torque wrench. The driver comes with four loft options: 8.5, 9.5, 10.5, 11.5. The dirver comes with five shaft flexes -- L, M, R, S, X. Street price is $399. The R9 SuperTri TP features the same head as the R9 SuperTri but with a choice of ten premium shafts including the Aldila Voodoo, Mitsubishi Fubuki and Matrix Ozik
