Tiger is still the hero

What effect will the Tiger Woods scandal have on the sport of Golf?

The Kobe Bryant scandal and the Michael Vick scandal didn't really affect the image of the sports of basketball and football, respectively - their actions brought repercussions on themselves at a personal level.

But golf is different than those sports - it has more of a gentlemanly and classy image. So, will this Tiger Woods scandal bring down the sport of golf in a way? Or, do you think that it'll be the same as Kobe and Vick scandals, in that it won't affect the image of the sport of golf?

What golfers need to concern themselves with is how Tiger will perform on the course next year. He will find solace at the one thing everyone knows he loves and that is golf. But it’s sure that this crash will abase the No.1 athlete and cut down his income. Tiger’s golf life is rather worrying? No.

A week after Tiger Woods’ crash, one airline is about to capitalize on the buzz surrounding the swing king.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Spirit Airlines launched an "Eye of the Tiger Sale" Wednesday offering fares starting at $9 each way.

The Web ad features a tiger -- the animal, not the golfer -- wearing a black cap (you know, the type Tiger the golfer wears) driving an SUV into a fire hydrant.

"It's a jungle out there! Make sure you avoid all the obstacles and get the lowest fares," the ad says.

Asked about the ad Thursday, Spirit spokeswoman Misty Pinson would only say that it ends at midnight. Pressed about the relationship to the golfer, Pinson added: "We don't have any additional comment on the story."

Without question, though Tiger is not the NO.1 athlete any more, he has easily become the hero of the newsmen, including me.
