College Baseball Scholarships – Top 6 Athletics Scholarships You Should Know About

There are several college scholarships on offer for baseball athletes. These range from local leagues scholarships to college baseball scholarships and division level to national league baseball scholarships.

Eligibility for different scholarships varies. The most common factors include financial need, sports history, community leadership skills, academic records, extracurricular activities, physical fitness etc.

Baseball scholarships also vary in the amount funded and their nature such as while some grants offer partial funding, others provide full tuition fee.

So where are the best scholarships available for college baseball athletes? Here is the list of top 6 Baseball scholarships available for student-athletes.

1) Southampton College - LIU Academic Awards

Southampton College - LIU Academic Awards are offered to student-athletes based upon several factors— students' SAT/ACT score, GPA, academic records, and sports rankings.

These academic scholarships range from $5,000 to full tuition. There is limited number of scholarships available.  So make sure you apply early to improve chances. There are art, athletic, alumni and sibling scholarships are also available.

2) American Legion Baseball Scholarship

American Legion Baseball Scholarship offers a number of grants to baseball players. This is one of the most prestigious scholarships available for student-athletes who wish to pursue their sports career along with higher education.

This is also for senior athletes. In order to apply for this scholarship, you either need to have graduated from high school or have enrolled at a college or university. Usually a head coach of an American Legion team recommends one athlete of the grant.

3) Dixie Youth Baseball Scholarship

In order to be eligible for the scholarships you must be a senior in high school and have at one time played in a Dixie Youth Baseball league. Dixie Youth Baseball Scholarships are popular among college freshmen as it is easy to apply for them.

4) PONY Baseball/Softball Alumni Scholarship Program

This is an alumni scholarship for graduates and in order to be considered for a scholarship you must play on a PONY affiliated Pony, Colt and/or Palomino team for at least two years. Available through the PONY Baseball/Softball Scholarship Program, this scholarship is only for senior high school athletes.

5) Dixie Boys Baseball Bernie Varnadore Scholarships

The Bernie Varnadore Scholarship Program is for outstanding high school seniors. Candidates are selected on the basis of a substantial financial need, high school grades, evidence of excellent community leadership.

This is an under undergraduate level grant and if you have participated in any of the Dixie Boys Baseball and aged between 13-19, you are eligible to apply for the grants.

6) Saint Louis University NCAA Division I Scholarships

The SLU NCAA Division I Grant-in-Aid is very popular among college baseball athletes. Saint Louis University's NCAA Division I scholarships are given to new freshman, transfer and renewal students who will be participating in one of SLU's NCAA Division I sports. Apply before December 01.
