Baseball Card Chasing Me

This sounds weird, isn't it? How an immovable baseball card can chase a person? But it did happen with me. Movie is my passion but not sports like baseball. Whenever I see my next door fat boy-Kevin piling up the baseball cards, I am like "Crazy boy wasting money". Be a baseball or any of the baseball player's fan but why baseball cards? I have been asking myself this for almost 3 years now. You won't believe that today these cards are chasing me. Now stop wondering how because I am going to unfold this for you.

The other day I watch the movie "A League of Their Own" which was based on All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. It was more of comedy drama but with right game spirit. That was for the first time I watched any sports movie and that too coincidentally on baseball. Thereafter, I have become a baseball fan and started watching the sports channel. And for the first time I reluctantly started talking to fat boy-Kevin. After few days of our friendship, he showed me his baseball cards and I was amused to see his craze. I saw one of the Rookie baseball cards of Alex Rodriguez and liked it. After coming home, I watched one of his game highlights and just fallen in love with this player. That's my turning point instigating to collect his cards after which I never looked back. 

I hated baseball, I hated the baseball card and in turn they chased me. So now I am chasing them. However, I am very new to collecting baseball cards or any other sports card. Recently I bought a packet hoping for inclusion of hot Alex Rodriguez but it ditched me. Then I gave the entire packet to Kevin (yes only Kevin not a fat boy but a dear friend of mine) and requested to give one of Alex Rodriguez's card in exchange. He happily gave me one but also returned the packet I bought saying that it may cost a fortune in future. I was completely blank and speechless.

That night I started browsing different sites on providing baseball card prices. But I became more confused overloaded with information. I called Kevin for help and he asked me to check the online price guide in Beckett.com. I thought this site must be about baseball, baseball cards and baseball card prices but, it was a complete platform for all the sports and collectibles. I was curious to know the value of the cards I have so quickly registered myself and availed a monthly subscription. Card trading is over my head so tried finding the values of only the cards which I have. To my utter surprise, in just a few months the price has dwindled. Now that's my experience of baseball card chasing me.
