5 Simple Beginning Steps to Becoming an NBA player

2016/7/27 15:35:12

Becoming an NBA player is by far an easy task. You most likely have to start preparing as a child but it is very possible for an adult to crack his way into the NBA. But if you happen to be between the ages of 8 to 16 this article is for you because you have the time to complete my simple steps in reaching the next level and on your way to becoming an NBA player.

As most jobs in the world, a lot of the time it is about who you know to get your foot in the door. But with my simple but hard steps if becoming an NBA player is something you really want then this article will try to put you in the right direction.

Step 1-Having the right Mentality-

You think therefore you are. Thinking you are already a NBA player every time you lace your shoes and step on the court is an essential but easy step people never think about. Having the correct mentality when you are playing is probably the biggest key to your success.  If you ask just about any NBA player how they use to think when they was in high school when they was on the court, 9/10 would tell you they thought they were the best person on the court every time they played. Don't overthink it, but when you play just believe you are already a NBA player and no one on the court has anything on you.

Step 2-  Always play with Confidence-

This step closing goes with the first step, but basketball is most definitely a mental game. I would say it's about 90% mental, 10% physical. Knowing this as a player when you doubt yourself on the court you will NOT play well and find yourself missing shots you would normally make with ease. You should never be afraid to shoot any shot and every shot you put up you should have no doubt in your mind that you will make that shot. When Kobe Bryant misses a shot, I guarantee his last shot has nothing to do with his next shot and he knows he will make the next shot he takes no matter how many times he missed in a row.  Confidence is key.

Step 3- Practice/Train-

Practice doesn't make perfect, but Perfect practice makes perfect. Training is an essential key to becoming a great player. The way you train also plays an important role.  If you train correctly and train hard, you will able to reproduce what you train on the court. For example, a lot of the shots Dirk Nowitzki  make take looks like a difficult shot, but its not to him because he practices those types of shots numerous of times.  Create a training schedule for yourself and stick to it. If you need a great training program you can find on the training page at http://ishokace.com/articles.html

Step 4- Meet the right people-

It's a hard pill to swallow in this world, but most of the time its about who you know that gets you to the next step. If you need help meeting the right type of people try searching for people who shares your same interest on sites such as Facebook or twitter. A newer site that gears people who is playing the same sports and connects them is called Ishokace.com. Ishokace   is a fairly new site, but its purpose is to connect scouts to players where scouts can see a players evolution through time by watching highlights and posters. Ishokace.com should be available in the summer of 2014 so start posting.

Step 5- Never Quit-

Becoming an NBA player is very hard to do. But it is doable. Don't give up your dreams, believe you will achieve your goals and accomplish them. Try to set small goals at first each day and each week. Find someone who shares your same dreams and challenge each other. But never quit, because when you look back at your life you don't want to have regrets, especially when you know how hard you work. Hard work and determination will pay off.

Hope this article helps you on the first step in becoming a NBA star
