Porter vs Thurman- The 147 Division Lights Up!

The winner of this fight is who Floyd will choose as his last fight. As of now, as ridiculous as it may sound, it's not something unbelievable. Porter and Thurman have both respectable resumes are great skill sets. Between them they have fought 55 fights, Porter facing the only loss against Kell Brook, in which Brook smartly boxed Porter, throwing accurate punches and grabbing and holding Porter most of the fights to negate his power.

It was a good strategy, and it worked. While Brook may have been able to keep Porter away, Thurman's fight style is dependent more on power punches and trading blows than on boxing at a distance. Thurman does display boxing skills, fighting at a distance, but that's not what makes him exciting and promising. It's his power and combinations that make him the potential future star. It's exactly what makes Porter promising as well. Not a long time ago, Porter commented that there were rumors of Floyd's return

Thurman has fought twice in 2015, winning against a tough Robert Guerrero and stopping Louis Collazo. Although he dominated them both, they were both successful in hurting Thurman at some point. Porter would find something to look in those fights. Porter himself beat Erick Bone and his long time Ohio rival AdrienBroner.

Porter said:

"I'm very confident in my ability. That's why I've been looking forward to this fight because I'm someone who can beat Keith Thurman. Nothing about Keith really makes me nervous. I do know that he's going to be ready for this fight. He's a fighter that has the heart of a lion just like I do. I expect this to be a fight to the finish. A win over Keith Thurman is what we've been waiting for."

Thurman had to say:

"Last year was an amazing year for me: I headlined the very first Premier Boxing Champions show and was named PBC Fighter of the Year. But this is my year to dominate the welterweight division and I'm excited to be getting ready to take out Shawn Porter.

"I am ready to get back in the ring and bring boxing fans what they've been looking for – the top true welterweight champion of the world, the one who is going to take out all competitors one by one. I am Keith ‘One-Time' Thurman and I'm going to show you what a champion looks like on March 12."

147 is boxing's toughest and most exciting division, and this is one of the best match ups that could have been made. The winner will be pitted against Danny Garcia, or should be. As far as our guess goes, Keith Thurman will be the favorite to win this fight on points. It's unlikely that we would see a knockout, both guys being extremely tough. But do not count out Shawn Porter. If Thurman thinks of brawling, he better look out for Porter. This fight is clearly a fight of the year potential candidate.
