Having Proper Scuba Diving Equipment Ensures Safety Of The Diver

Scuba diving is one of the extremely popular under water sports activities. It is now done on a recreational as well as commercial basis. This sport allows you to explore all the amazing and fascinating under water creatures. Some people like to explore the under water life for the sake of fun while there are others who do the same as a part of some kind of scientific reasons or survey. It is performed in seas and lakes and the diver requires proper scuba diving equipment before taking a plunge deep into the water.

There are a number of things that you need to have before you take a dive deep into the water. First of all, the diver must attend the special scuba diving training classes before he goes for it. These classes help the diver to take all the necessary precautions when under water. These classes also help the diver to get all the necessary items included in the scuba diving equipment.

First of all, the diver needs a diving mask which covers the eyes, nose and mouth of the diver under water. It allows him to to see clearly under water without the water coming in the way. This mask is connected through a pipe to an oxygen cylinder/tank that the diver carries on his back. The oxygen cylinder/tank has a meter attached to it that shows the volume of oxygen consumed and the volume that still remains back. Another important component of the scuba diving equipment is the regulator. It regulates the supply and pressure of the air supply from the cylinder. There are a number of regulators which can be selected according to the depth till which the diver would be going because varying depths would require varying pressures.

A diver also requires a diving body suit and fins. The wet suit covers the body thereby acting as an insulator and preventing the water from coming into direct contact with the body. Fins are required to increase the thrusts when the diver dives more than 30 feet deep into the water. Then there is also another important component of the whole scuba diving equipment, the buoyancy compensator. It looks like a vest and its main function is to make sure that the diver gets back to the surface with ease.

A diving gauge and some other measuring tools are also important components of the scuba diving gear. They may be in the form of a watch which gives all the information about the depth of water as well as the decompression limitations. You should have the right scuba diving equipment so that you can not only have a safe experience but also treasure it for a lifetime.
