Fair Ball Rule: Third Base Bounces Explained

Question
If a ball is hit down the third baseline, and it bounces in foul territory, spins, and then goes back on the fair side of third base (or any place in fair territory)without being touched by a player, is it a foul or fair ball?

Answer
Tina,
It all depends on where this happens in relation to third base.  If the ball hits foul and then spins back into fair territory before it passes third base, then it is a fair ball.  If the ball bounces foul and then spins back into fair territory passed third base or in the outfield, the ball is ruled foul.

Hope this helps.  Let me know if you have any other questions.
