Fixing Hands-Forward Swing: A Coach's Guide
Question
Problem:
I have one player who has a near perfect swing, however he has a tendency to shift forward with his hands starting to come forward before the pitch is in the air. The result: everything is hit the other way without much power.
Question:
How do I break this habit and teach him to keep his weight & hands back?
Answer
Hi Bob,
My only suggestion, not having a chance to see the hitter, is to increase tee work and soft toss drills--and focus on proving to this hitter that his hands are fast enough to wait a bit longer to release.
Sorry I can't be more specific.
Pete
