covering bases

Is there a website for strategies on who covers what base (eg: ball hit to third who covers 2nd).  I say ss with 2nd behind to cover an overthrow.  Or hit to left field and runnner trying for 2nd...who covers 2nd (ss or 2nd)

Try this website:  www.webball.com has a section devoted to the responsibilities for each position on the field.

For the two you mention, I feel that the second baseman has the bag in both cases.  

On a ball hit to third, ( I assume tthere is a runner on first ) the SS will probably have momentum taking him away from the bag while 2B is in a better position to take the throw.  The play reads 5-4-3 in the book and is fairly common at higher levels of play.

On a hit to left, the second baseman covers the bag while the SS takes the cut-off.
