Injury at plate during steal and batting out of order

Question
QUESTION: Two questions
1. The catcher took a hit to the knee and a runner was going to steal home and headed back to 3rd when he saw the injury- the ump didn't see the injury, so when the other coach complained, the ump let the kid come in for a run. Is that right?

We then switched catchers got a third out, end of inning - then...

2. I was attending to my son's ( the catcher that was hit) injury and set the scorebook down ( I keep score). Our kids started batting at the top of the order, missing 3 runners - and batted 3 runners, which all scored. The defense then brought it to the ump's attention after the 4th batter was picture too. They gave us 3 outs, which I agree with- and removed the runs.          Is that right? The ump wasn't sure.

ANSWER: The answer to #1 is absolutely incorrect....The player did not score on his own, he cannot be awarded a base in this situation...

#2, I do not understand the question or issue....Please advise.

Thanks, Andy

QUESTION: Hello,

For clarity to question no.2 - do the runs scored by the batters that were out of order still count in this situation?

Thank you

Answer
The runs do count & should not have come off the books.  Once a batter has completed his bat & the next pitch is thrown, then it's a done deal.  So if a run scored & a pitch was thrown, that run counts.  If the opposing coach then says he's the wrong batter, you correct that batter only w/ no penalty & proceed.  Therefore if two batter-runners score, etc, same scenario.

The other concept is that the opposing team has to catch the error, not your team or you as the official scorekeeper.  You can not say a word.  You are an unbiased official as are the umpires.

Just curious what age this is too...

Thanks for clarifying...Andy
