Baseball Play: Runner on 2nd Caught in Rundown - Where Does Runner End Up?
Question
13U baseball Runners on 2nd and 3rd batter attempts a safety squeeze runner on 3rd gets back but runner on 2nd caught in run down on the 3rd throw in the run down ball is tossed out of play. Where does the runner on 2nd end up? Thanks, BOB
Answer
I am assuming into dead ball territory.....If the ball was thrown by an outfielder, then he is awarded a minimum of two bases....If by an infielder, a minimum of one base, thereby forcing the runner at third to score in either case.
Great question.....Thanks, Andy
