Throwing sidearm is not necessarily a problem, so long as your throwing mechanics are otherwise correct. I would say that if your throwing speed is good, and you are accurate with your throws (which is sometimes a problem with side-armers since the ball doesn't tend to fly as true), and if your arm doesn't hurt (another problem often associated with sidearm because more pressure can be put on the elbow), then you may be OK. All things considered, given the choice between sidearm or not, I would choose not for the reasons mentioned above.
