in game focus

Question
My son Chris is 10 yrs. old, he loves the game of baseball.  He is left handed and currently plays first base and he pitches.  He is pretty decent at both positions. My question, is how can I get Chris to focus on the game and not focus on the position he is playing (ex. when playing first, he'll make any play coming to first.  He'll forget everything else, like covering a throw, or where to go for the next play or any play that coming to first.)  As far as pitching goes how can i get Chris to settle down on the mound?  he has great velocity on his pitches, needs to work on his control.  because of that when pitches start straying he gets rattled pretty quick.  What do you recommend?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  thanks

Answer
I think the in game focus has to come during practice. If its not being reinforced in practice it will be hard to become a part of him. Also try when you are watching a game point out how the big league first baseman do things.
As far as on the mound to work on his control have him throw at objects.Maybe set up a tie and have him throw at the 4 sides of it.
