Basketball shot attempt is blocked

Question
If a player makes a shot attempt but it is blocked, do you still count it as a missed attempt in their field goal percentage?

Answer
Yes you still count a blocked shot as a field goal attempt for the player and the team.  One exception would be if they were also fouled.  If a player is fouled in the act of shooting you only count it as a shot attempt if they make it.  another exception is if the shot was a desperation shot (as when time is expiring).  Desperation shots typically don't count as an attempt unless they go in.  A normal shot taken as time expires still counts as an attempt.

This convention for field goal percentage helps players realize the value of taking good shots.  Thanks for striving to keep your statistics accurate!
